A real Ali Baba’s cave of yarns and wools of all kinds, La Lainière de Wazemmes has been welcoming, listening and advising you in its store in Lille for nearly 40 years. From knitting to crocheting, everyone can find what they are looking for among the thousands of references that fill the narrow aisles of the store (and the pages of the website! 😀 ). We invite you here to take a little trip through time…and discover a little more about the history of the most commonly called “La Lainière”.
It is in Lille, in the district of Wazemmes, at the bend of a small street, that our story begins. Jocelyne Leysen, a passionate knitter in her spare time, decided to specialize in this field and to open a store to share her passion… La Lainière de Wazemmes, Ali Baba’s cave of balls of wool, was born!
Charly Leysen, Jocelyne’s only son, fell into the world of yarns even before he could walk! From then on, he discovered the wonderful world of yarns and wools with his mother. A wonderful mother-son duo was born! Since the age of 22, Charly has been working as a family in the store in Lille.
From now on, Jocelyne cannot be alone to take care of the store. She recruited Anita and her expert eye for knitting to be part of the adventure. She has been welcoming and advising you for 25 years already! Carole also joined the team a few years ago to help Jocelyne, Charly and Anita in the store.
After more than 30 years spent in her wool store, practicing and transmitting her passion to her beloved customers, it is time for Jocelyne to take a well-deserved rest. And the successor has been found: her son, Charly!
Faced with a growing demand from its customers, La Lainière de Wazemmes launches its online sales site. Thanks to this new tool, the small store from Lille is known all over France and even, outside its borders, abroad (special dedication to our Belgian neighbors)!
Today, La Lainière de Wazemmes is a team of 6 people who work every day at your service to advise you, prepare your orders and do their utmost to satisfy you! And yes, our love for balls of wool was born more than 35 years ago, with you, and thanks to you, the adventure still goes on in our store in Lille…and with a brand new website 😉
