When you have a passion for knitting or crocheting and you regularly make beautiful works, you are sure to accumulate wool scraps<\/strong> (you know it as well as we do !). However, it is sometimes difficult to use them because there is often not enough to start another project…a real headache ! So if, like us, you don’t like waste, this article is for you! Here are our ideas and tips on how to make the most of all your wool scraps !\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Winter accessories<\/span><\/h2>\n

First of all, the few meters of yarn you have left in a ball of yarn can be used to create accessories to keep you warm in winter<\/strong> ! Mittens, headbands, hats,… and many more ! You can knit them with several different wools to have a colorful style or stay in the sobriety, it’s up to you ! For these accessories, it is recommended to use good quality scraps of wool<\/a> and fabric such as cashmere or even alpaca<\/a>, but scraps of synthetic yarn<\/a> can also do the trick.<\/span><\/p>\n

Otherwise, if you don’t want to knit a real sweater or other substantial piece, you can always put aside your wool scraps for your future jacquard projects. Indeed, the latter often require little footage in certain colors. This is the opportunity to dig through your stash to find the color that will perfectly match the main color of your project. Then, you can also recycle your wool and fabric scraps by making DIY <\/strong>(Do It Yourself)<\/em> projects for reusable and eco-responsible household and hygiene accessories<\/strong> such as dishcloths, washcloths <\/strong>or even makeup remover pads.<\/strong> These accessories are a real ecological boost that fights against the over-consumption society. To knit or crochet these DIY projects, we recommend first using your wool scraps, which are mainly made of cotton<\/a>, but it is also possible to knit wool scraps made of synthetic materials<\/a> such as acrylic<\/a> for example. To maintain these new kinds of knitting or crochet projects, simply wash them at 30\u00b0C in the machine after each use and that’s it!<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are looking for another DIY project idea, you can also knit a wool patchwork blanket. To do this, you just need a little thread, your sewing equipment and sew knitted squares together. The advantage is that you can use different colors so, more than one scrap of wool. Beginners can use garter stitch or stockinette stitch. People who have been knitting for longer will be able to vary the stitches such as the devil stitch, the accordion stitch or the fan stitch. The larger the blanket, the more small pieces of wool and fabric you will need.
